Trinity Hall, Cambridge University

Press Release: Peter Orton made a Fellow Commoner of Trinity Hall, Cambridge University.

Peter Orton was made a Fellow Commoner of Trinity Hall, Cambridge University for the Lent and Easter terms of 2006. Peter is bringing his experience of business, intellectual property rights and branding strategy to Trinity Hall and the wider University.

Peter left school at the age of 16 and did not have the opportunity to go to university. After a successful career in media and communications, Peter was keen to be inspired by first-class academic brains. At the same time he was aware that his knowledge of intellectual rights and the global market might be useful in exploring new opportunities for one of the world's most prestigious universities. An approach was made to the Master of Trinity Hall, Professor Martin Daunton, requesting an opportunity to come to Cambridge with a view to enjoying the academic environment, while helping the University explore the opportunities in the intellectual rights arena.

In addition to enjoying the atmosphere at Cambridge University, attending lectures and dining with the fellows at Trinity Hall, Peter is personally funding a team to explore commercial opportunities for the University within the context of its 800th Anniversary Fund raising campaign.
