The Head & Neck Cancer Research Trust

Over the past ten years, Peter Orton has been successfully treated for cancer. Peter's charitable activities are now concentrated on The Head & Neck Cancer Research Trust. In the UK head and neck cancer accounts for 8 - 10% of all cancers, but receives only 1% of cancer research funding. Peter is President of the Trust and donated a substantial portion of his HIT Entertainment shares to the charity.

The Head & Neck Cancer Research Trust does not receive NHS funding and has raised nearly £2 million over the past three years for its research programme. The Trust funded the John Diamond Voice Research Laboratory at London's Royal Marsden Hospital, which was opened by Diamond's widow Nigella Lawson in 2002.

The Trust aims to raise £10 million over the next five years. The funds will be used to establish a Head and Neck Cancer Research Institute as part of the Institute of Cancer Research; to further expand the head and neck cancer research programme and to house dedicated research laboratories.
